Breakfast, Restaurant/Places to Eat in Hotel Erzherzog Rainer

I loved my room on the fifth floor with a balcony where I could sit and read with a cup of tea. The first thing I liked was at reception, where in response to my somewhat rusty German I was asked if I preferred to use German or English to which I said 'German'. My room was very clean and very comfortable with great attention to detail. For example, there were coat hooks for when you come in with a slightly damp coat. The bathroom had plenty of shelves as well as hooks. There was a coloured towel provided for make-up wearers. Breakfast was really good with plenty of fruit and vegetables as well as interesting mueslis. And of course cheeses, meats, breads, pastries, juices, and I think there was even sparkling wine on offer. I liked being given my own pot of coffee. As my phone was out of action for over 24 hours I was very grateful for access to a computer in the lobby. It was a very comfortable haven to return to after a hard day pounding the pavements of Vienna. Oh yes, the location was good. Near Secession but not too far from the railway station.

I liked the location, the breakfast was nice. The room depends on how you make your reservation. I decided not to prepay and pay until I was there. We travelled with friends who did prepay and the difference for the 4 nights was around 250 euros which was allot. My friends got an outside remodeled room whilst we got an inside un-remodelled room with a separate toilet and older beds. It makes for an interesting stay since the hotel has allot of history.

Lobby or reception in Hotel Erzherzog Rainer

This hotel is marvellously situated, particularly for anyone arriving by rail at the Hauptbahnhof, from which it is one stop on the underground or a short trip by taxi. It is also well- served by tram, with direct links to the Ring at the State Opera and further, including the major exchange hub at Schottentor. The rooms are clean, comfortable and - if on the small size - more than adequate for anyone not spending a lot of time in the room. The staff are both friendly and very helpful. Breakfast itself was excellent - although the one sour note of my stay was an order of two fried eggs which had still not arrived when I needed to leave 15 minutes later. The ever-helpful front desk ensured that that item (which incurs an extra charge) came off the bill. All in all, very good value for money and highly recommended.

This is my perfect European hotel. It isn’t a chain. It was family run for years, and the employees take pride in their work. It is full of the kind of character that only a well-preserved 100-year-old hotel can provide, like a 2 door elevator, real keys with fobs for the rooms, and a breakfast room with a gorgeous tile stove, classical music playing, and a selection of newspapers on offer to read while you eat. The front desk recommended a terrific nearby caffe where I could eat on a Sunday night when the hotel restaurant was closed, and they printed out transit directions for me when I asked for help one morning. On 12/6, housekeeping left a foil-wrapped chocolate Santa on my bed to celebrate St. Nicholas Day. When I was recovering from Covid and needed to eat breakfast in seclusion in my room the first morning of my stay, the breakfast staff fetched me a tray and silverware. The breakfast was a delicious full Austrian breakfast, including fresh growing horseradish sprouts, house made plum strudel, muesli and berry compote, and cheeses, crudite, and cold cuts. Finally, I loved the fresh air circulation provided via a venting system that didn’t necessitate opening the window.

Stayed for two nights. Staff were professional and remembered my name. Room was clean and matched the photos; it was also quiet as it faced an inner courtyard. The breakfast was very good, with much selection in the restaurant that is part of the building. Location is great as it is a about a three minute walk to a subway station that can take you directly to the Vienna Hbf or to the old town with all the attractions. Free apples in the lobby is a nice touch. I had to leave early on checkout and was provided with a takeaway bag with some basic food and drink at no cost.

My stay was exceptional. When booking the room online, I had no idea that I will stay in a hotel with over 100 years of tradition. The old fashioned climate of this historical hotel is why it stands out in the era of modern hotels with copy-paste design. I loved everything about my stay - kind staff, both in the restaurant and in the front desk. I loved the idea of keys instead on keycards with front desk staff handing me the correct key before I even started saying the room number. I enjoyed the tiny museum of the hotel in the lobby including eg. bell boy uniform from 1934. Yet do not worry, the room is not antique, it is modern, but cosy, with plenty of lamps arranged in different ways. Bed was extremely comfy. The room was quiet. Breakfast parlour is elegant, choice of food extensive. A little tip - if you want to have dinner in the hotel restaurant Wiener Wirtschaft, make a reservation - it is a really popular place serving typical local food including Tafelspitz. I can go on and on telling why I enjoyed my stay so much, but I will add one more thing - very good location, just a few steps away from U1 Taubstummengasse metro station, tram no. 1 that will take you to the Ring, also not far from Main Railway Station, Karlsplatz/ Oper, Schloss Belvedere.

Breakfast, Restaurant/Places to Eat in Hotel Erzherzog Rainer

We spent unforgettable days in this hotel. Everything was amazing. The standard room is very spacious and well decorated. The hotel has a great history and it shows in every detail. There is a small museum in the lobby of the hotel, which contains many historical items related to this place. The breakfast is very good and varied. The hotel has a very cozy restaurant where you can have a tasty dinner. The main sights can be reached on foot, enjoying the beauty of Vienna every second. I had a birthday while staying at the hotel, and after walking around the city, I found a small tasty compliment from the hotel in the room with wonderful wishes and a recipe of this compliment. Our stay in Vienna was like a fairy tale thanks to this hotel, we are very grateful for the hospitality
